Luisa Bianchin by Alexander Neumann for L’Officiel Paris February 2012

I have always admired the fashion from the 50s. Perhaps, it's the girlie girl in me that always makes me want to encorporate the 50s look into my personal style. The clothes and accessories from the 50s are definitely making a huge comeback. I love how the fashion of the 50's was sharp and tailored, yet celebrated curves....Just look at the femme apparel during those years, Ultra feminine!

Spring Siesta – Photographed by Alexander Neumann, the spring collections get a 50s twist for the February issue of L'officiel Paris. Model. Luisa Bianchin soaks up the sun in the relaxed images; wearing the designs of Viktor & Rolf, Dolce & Gabbana, Blumarine, Marc Jacobs and others styled by Vanessa Bellugeon. Tanned skin by makeup artist Sergio Corvacho and retro curls by hair stylist Enrico Mariott perfect the sunny day out.

The 1st Day Of Chinese New Year

I just got back from my hometown and now I'm gonna start blogging again...lets talk about the 1st day of Chinese New Year!

Early morning, children will greet their parents by wishing them a healthy and happy new year, and receive money in red paper envelopes. The Chinese New Year tradition is to reconcile, forget all grudges and sincerely wish peace and happiness for everyone.

The first day is for the welcoming of the deities of the heavens and earth, officially beginning at midnight. Many people, especially Buddhists, vegetarian dish is traditionally served on the first day of the Chinese New Year, both to cleanse out the body and to honor a Buddhist tradition that nothing living should be killed on the first day of the New Year...but we usually don't practice that every year. On this day, it is considered bad luck to clean.

I'm a vegetarian that day so I decided to have cereal and cereal bar =)

Traditionally, Red envelopes or red packets are passed out during the Chinese New Year’s celebrations, from married couples or the elderly to unmarried juniors. These packets often contain money in certain numbers that reflect good luck and honorability.

I wore cheongsam on the 1st day of Chinese New Year. Chinese New Year is the only time most Chinese women would wear cheongsam, and perhaps occasionally during weddings and dinners. Unlike the baju kurung and sari, cheongsam is rarely the choice for Chinese women’s daily wear. To me,wearing cheongsam makes you look elegant and poised that truly reflect our Chinese culture

Well most importantly, the first day of Chinese New Year is a time to honor one’s elders and families visit the oldest and most senior members of their extended families, usually their parents, grandparents and great-grandparents.

For this year we only managed to pay 3 of our relatives and friends a visit. Usually we will be visiting at least 4 houses...then again all of us really enjoyed ourselves. We are happy to meet up and catch up with our relatives and friends. It's all about reunion on my first day of Chinese New Year.

On Chinese New Year, all we do is EAT and DRINK! It will be the season for eating cookies and giving cookies as a token of welcoming the Lunar New Year.

Chinese New Year Family Reunion Dinner 团圆饭

My apologies for neglecting this blog for a long time! I've been spending a quality time with my family this Chinese New Year. Family comes 1st...to me nothing is more important than my family =). so all techs aside!

Before I start blogging I would like to take apportunity to wish all who's celebrating chiness new year Kong Hei Fatt Choy may this year will be a prosperous year for all of us.

This year, the Chinese New Year fell on 23 January 2012. It's time for family members to be reunited and have a fantastic meal for dinner. It has been one of the Chinese custom since centuries ago. This year, we had our reunion dinner at a restaurant. The number of meals have reduced from 10-course meal to 7-course only.

We started off with yee sang~ That’s my favourite dish. No Chinese New Year dinner in Malaysia is complete without the ubiquitous yee sang. This is probably the 2nd or 3rd time I’m having it this year.

Lou yee sang moment!

This is the fatty lil sister

Eric the youngest cousin in the family.

Shark’s Fin soup again. I used to love this but these days I think I can do without it. Interesting fact about shark’s fin soup in Malaysian restaurants. Chances are that the shark’s fin you’re being served is fake! Look at it...this is definitely FAKE! And I'm not eating shark's fin anymore!

This is all my pretty sisters~

Steamed Fish

Butter Fried Prawns

Steamed Glutinous Rice with Steam Chicken

2 lil rascals

Our parents on the other table

I have to take care of the lil cousin, I'm training to be a mom...and I think I can be a good mom =D

All the cousins~

he is such a heartthrob!

After dinner,we went home for ang pow lucky draw. Grandma never fails to do it every year~

Semua rebut rebut gia ang pow~

Aw look at the sad face...

and the happy faces~

I got one of the biggest packet =)

Dad got the smallest packet...65 cent only that's sad~

Anyways we had a good time catching up...The food that night was really just so-so. The service was terrible and the food came in so fast...is like they are chasing us away~ I don’t think I’ll ever come back here again for reunion dinner.

How was your reunion dinner? Hope you had a great one! XO~
